All CSCH presenters and members are invited to join us for our annual banquet at this year’s Annual Meeting at the University of Victoria.
The dinner will be held at Bistro 28 (http://bistro28.ca/) located at 2583 Cadboro Bay Road. Bus 11 from campus goes right by the Bistro and takes about 15 minutes from the campus bookstore (bus fare is $2.50 exact change). Driving would take about 6-7 minutes, walking about 40 minutes (downhill). From downtown bus 11 leaves on Douglas Street (near Chapters bookstore) and will take 15 minutes. Driving from downtown will take 10 minutes. Walking about an hour (uphill).
For those who want to take the opportunity after the sessions and before dinner, there is an excellent BC wine shop next door with well-informed staff. Also one of the best beaches in the area (Willows) is a ten minute walk from the corner of Cadboro Bay and Estevan (the location of the small plaza where Bistro 28 is situated). One simply walks straight down Estevan (which also has an interesting array of small shops at one point on the way) to the ocean.
We will have the entire restaurant to ourselves (which only seats a max of about 30) and the 3 course menu designed by the chef is $40/person. This includes tax and tip, but not drinks with tax and tip.
1st Tomato & fennel soup with basil pesto or Marinated beet salad, saanich greens, manchego, orange honey vinaigrette
2nd Butternut squash risotto with toasted hazelnuts or Spaghetti & meatballs or Grilled apple brined pork loin chop with creamed corn & potato salad
3rd Dark chocolate torte raspberry compote, vanilla cream
If possible, it would be very helpful to know of any allergy or dietary concerns prior to the dinner.
